Bookkeeping Services in Northern Virginia

Ledger & Logic provides bookkeeping services to small businesses in Northern Virginia and, because the work happens in your cloud-based QuickBooks file, to clients anywhere in the country.

Most of what follows is part of an ongoing bookkeeping plan rather than something bought on its own. Your plan is agreed at the start, and you receive a clear scope and price before work begins.

Where a bookkeeping plan starts

Catch-up and cleanup bookkeeping

Catch-up brings overdue bookkeeping up to date by recording missing transactions and completing unfinished work. We quote it as a separate project with its own scope and fee.

Virtual bookkeeping

We give you accurate, up-to-date books without the need to manage bookkeeping yourself or hire an in-house bookkeeper.

What can be added to your plan

These are available as part of an ongoing bookkeeping plan rather than on their own.

Accounts payable

We track what your business owes and pay your vendor bills according to an agreed process, once you have approved them.

Accounts receivable

We handle invoicing and follow-up to the extent agreed in your plan, and your aging report comes each month so you can see what is outstanding.

Bank reconciliation

We reconcile each bank and credit card account in the agreed scope to its statement, so your reports come from reconciled books.

Financial reporting

We build your reporting around the questions you want answered, beyond the statements that come with your monthly bookkeeping.

Job costing

We track revenue and costs against each project, so you can see how each job performed.

Payroll support

We support payroll each pay period through the provider you already use, based on the services included in your plan.

Sales tax filing

We prepare filings based on the sales tax requirements applicable to your business, in your registered jurisdictions.

1099 preparation

We keep your vendor records current through the year and collect W-9s where applicable, so the information needed for 1099 preparation is organized as you go.

QuickBooks setup and support

We set up or restructure QuickBooks Online to suit how your business works, and quote that as a separate project fee. QuickBooks training is available on its own.

Bookkeeping for the trades

For contractors, landscapers, and other project-based businesses, we also review how materials, subcontractor costs, customer deposits, and progress payments are recorded to identify any areas that need attention.

How pricing works

Your fee is a personalized monthly amount based on the services in your plan.

A flat monthly fee makes bookkeeping easier to budget for. Your personalized plan outlines the work and level of support included. If your needs change, we discuss any adjustments with you before changing the scope or fee.

Project work, including catch-up and QuickBooks setup, is quoted as a separate project fee based on your needs and a review of your books.

Your plan runs month to month, with no long-term commitment. A written service agreement outlines the scope, fees, responsibilities, and cancellation process, including any required notice.

Not sure which of these you need?

That is common, and it is what the first conversation is for. A rough idea of where things stand is plenty to get started.
