Monthly Bookkeeping Services in Northern Virginia
Monthly bookkeeping services from Ledger & Logic keep your financial records current and accurate month by month, so you can see where your business stands through the year.
Each month we reconcile your accounts, categorize your transactions, and prepare your financial reports. We work through each month while the details are recent, so January is business as usual.

Through the year
Some clients want a call each month to go through the reports. Others want them to arrive and nothing more. Either way, anything that needs your attention reaches you that month.
Monthly bookkeeping services cover reconciliation, categorization, and your reports. If there is more you would like us to handle, we’d be happy to discuss adding any of these to your plan:
- Accounts payable, if you would like us to track and manage your vendor bills and release payments after your approval
- Accounts receivable, if you would like us to follow up with the customers who owe you
- Job costing, if you bill by the job and want to see the profit on each one
- Sales tax filing and 1099 preparation, where included in your plan
- QuickBooks setup and support, if your file needs restructuring or you would like training
- Financial reporting, for reporting beyond your monthly statements
Who monthly bookkeeping helps
You are in the right place if any of these are familiar:
- You keep the books yourself and would like that time back
- Your records are current, and you want them to stay that way
- A lender or a landlord asks for financial statements on request
- Your tax preparer asks each year for records you have to assemble
- You bill by the job and want to see how each one is performing
- You have finished a catch-up project and want to stay current
- Your business has grown past what a spreadsheet handles
We are in Lorton, Virginia, and work with small businesses across Northern Virginia. Because everything happens in QuickBooks Online, we can help clients anywhere in the country.
For contractors, landscapers, and other project-based businesses, we also review how materials, subcontractor costs, customer deposits, and progress payments are recorded.
Sound like what you need?
How monthly bookkeeping services work
A personal consultation
Tell us about your business, which accounts are involved, and what you need each month. We can usually give you a broad range on that call.
A review of your books
We review what you have now, so the plan we quote fits what is there.
Your plan and fee
You receive a clear scope and price before work begins.
Access
We help you grant accountant access to QuickBooks Online and, where available, read-only access to your business bank and credit card accounts so we can retrieve statements directly. If your financial institution does not offer that access, you can share statements through QuickBooks Online or a shared Google Drive folder.
Your first month
We review your opening balances and the existing file before routine work starts, so every report after that starts from numbers we have checked.
Every month after
The cycle repeats, and your reports arrive on schedule.
What is included each month

- Business bank and credit card accounts included in the agreed scope, reconciled month by month against your statements
- Your transactions categorized consistently month to month
- A profit and loss statement
- A balance sheet
- A review of your books for the month before your reports go out
- Your chart of accounts maintained as your business changes
If your books are behind or need significant corrections before we begin, we discuss any catch-up or cleanup work with you and agree on a separate scope and fee before proceeding. Catch-up or cleanup work is a separate project with its own scope, fee, and end date.
Personalized scope and pricing
Your fee is a personalized monthly amount based on the services in your plan.
A flat monthly fee makes it easier to budget for your bookkeeping. Your personalized plan outlines the work and level of support included. If your needs change, we discuss any adjustments with you before changing the scope or fee.
Monthly bookkeeping services run month to month, with no long-term commitment. A written service agreement outlines the scope, fees, responsibilities, and cancellation process, including any required notice.
Curious what this would cost for your business?
What we need from you
Less than you might expect.
Once access is set up, we retrieve bank and credit card statements directly where available. You provide receipts, supporting documents, and details about transactions that need clarification through QuickBooks Online or a shared Google Drive folder. We group questions where practical to make responding easier.
A few things only you can give us:
- Loan statements and payment schedules, so those balances stay accurate
- Payroll records, if you run payroll
- Context on anything large or out of the ordinary
When something is missing or unclear, we ask you about it rather than guessing. If it still cannot be resolved, we will work it out with you and bring your tax preparer in where that helps.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from keeping the books myself?
QuickBooks records what it is told. Keeping it accurate means reconciling the bank and credit card accounts included in your plan against their statements each month and categorizing consistently as you go. That is the work we do each month.
Which accounts do you reconcile?
The business bank and credit card accounts included in your agreed plan. If you open a new account or add a card, let us know, and we will discuss whether it changes your plan.
When do I get my reports?
On a schedule we agree at the start, once the prior month has been reconciled and reviewed. You will know the date in advance.
